Uniting the continent, in March 2015 when the Dominican Republic’s Juan Antonio Vila was elected President of the Latin American Table Tennis Union (ULTM), the touch paper was lit for the formation of the Pan American Table Tennis Confederation.
Goals clear, determined to achieve targets, following intense discussions over a period of some eight months, alongside Mr. Tony Keisenhofer, President of the North American Table Tennis Union (NATTU) an initial agreement was signed later in the year in November.
A bridge that would connect both organizations was built.
In 2016 and 2017, ground-breaking joint events were held in Canada, Costa Rica and Colombia, giving life to the “Pan American Championships”. In 2018, continuing the search for unity with purpose, a possible political union was very close. Doubts expressed by the leaders in the United States, slowed progress.
